The Excitement of Life

The most exciting part of life is that it goes on. That you have to enjoy while you are still fighting with the daily routine. That it is possible to be alive and happy in the world where everything may seem to be wrong. This is the beauty of it all.

Two little puppies

I had a small puppy living outside my house (now this may sound quite uncommon to a lot of audience, but street dogs are common in India). He would look at me with immense love. He would come and sit in my lap, play there for hours at stretch.

His brother also loved me. But he was a bit scared of us all. It was not easy for him to put faith in a human being - after all, we are not his kind :). However, he was reasonably comfortable with me.

Both of them were teething and they needed something to chew on. So, what better than my fingers... The second one bit a little hard to which I responded with an "ouch". The first one noticed my discomfort. He stopped chewing my finger, went behind his brother, and started pulling him away from me. It was a really funny scene. One puppy on top of another, and literally pulling the other back from the waist :)...

I was flattered. I was surprised that the little one was so connected to me that my little discomfort made him fight it out with his brother.

I pray that both of them rest in peace and get much more love and happiness than they shared with me.

On being the change

Change is the way of life. Just like life, change is also permanent.

It is the possibility of change that has kept humanity alive, and the spirit to live on kicking. For, everything is not as we want - and we live on to make things the way they should be (at least from where we see them).

Mahatma Gandhi said, "Be the change that you want to see in this world".

His words are powerful.

We can be the catalyst of change that we want to see in this world. And we can do this by ourselves. All that we need to do is to change ourselves first.

His words motivate us to be active agents of "positive" change in the society.

When I came across AID, I realized that I can be that agent of change that I always wanted someone else to be. Check out http://delhi.aidindia.org to know of ways how you can be the change.

On living in the present

To be alive is a great gift.

A lot of us just squander it away - in fear of something that may not happen. Or in anticipation of things that may happen. While it is important to save for the future and think about it, for it is the possibilities in the future that offer us the ability to dream, it is equally important to make best use of the present, because its only by utilizing the "present" that the dreams for the "future" can be realized.

So, live on...
